Pundit makes ‘ridiculous’ Leeds United promotion prediction as ‘outstanding’ duo praised
The latest Leeds United news as Clinton Morrison has had his say on the race for promotion and two players who are key to the Whites’ challenge at the top of the table.

Sky Sports pundit Clinton Morrison has predicted that Leeds United and Leicester City will win automatic promotion straight back to the Premier League in what is a ‘ridiculous’ race at the top of the table.
Leeds were the big winners over the weekend with both Ipswich and Leicester dropping points. The Whites came out as 2-0 winners over Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night, with Ipswich conceding two injury-time goals to lost 2-1 to Cardiff.
Leicester, meanwhile came from behind twice to draw 2-2 with Hull City at the MKM Stadium. Those results moved Leeds up to second place in the table, three points behind Leicester and one ahead of Ipswich in third.
“You can ask us, ‘who’s going to be the top two?’ It changes all the time. I’ve been saying all season it’s going to be Leicester and Leeds.
“Ipswich won’t go away. Southampton are still in the mix. Them four have been outstanding, the four best teams, but I’m still going to go Leeds and Leicester to get promoted.”
The pundit then picked out Leeds’ defensive duo Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon for praise. The two summer signings will be key in the side maintaining their current position and challenging Leicester for the title between now and the end of the season.
On Ampadu, Morrison said: “I played with him at Exeter, he came and trained, he was still at school, but he came and trained. Let me tell you, outstanding player, I looked at him and thought this guy can go wherever he wants to be.
“He likes to play in the holding midfield or he can play centre-half like he’s playing now. He started the season for Leeds in midfield and was playing ever so well.
“The best thing for him when at Chelsea was to then go down and go a play at Leeds where he can play week in week out and that’s what he’s doing. But he’s still young, he’s 23, he’s an exceptional player, he’s the captain there now and he leads by example and the partnership with him and Rodon I think is outstanding and it helps that they’re international teammates as well.

“He’s a young guy but he’s so mature for his age, and Rodon needed to go and play football. He was getting no game time at Tottenham, so credit to him. Some people could just stay at a football club and want to play there, some people would say ‘I’m going to turn my nose up, I’m not going down to the Championship to play.’
“Both of them have gone to the Championship and I think they’ve been outstanding for Leeds.”
Leeds will have the chance to overtake Leicester when they take on Millwall next Sunday afternoon. The Foxes don’t have a Championship game due to being in FA Cup quarter-final action, meaning that a win by more than one goal will take Leeds above them on goal difference, although Leicester will have a game in hand.
