Everton midfielder Dele Alli is working his way back to fitness after undergoing groin surgery in January

Dele Alli is continuing to work his way back to full fitness, 19 months on from his last Everton appearance.
Dele has not played for the Blues since coming on as a substitute in their 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa in August at the start of last season. Soon after he joined Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas on a season-long loan that was ultimately cut short due to injury
The England international returned to Everton and looked set to play his first match under new manager Sean Dyche until he picked up a new injury. Further setbacks followed and in January he underwent groin surgery.
Dele has been following a programme put together by the Blues’ medical staff and he recently returned to Finch Farm to step up his recovery.
And the 27-year-old has taken to Instagram to give an update. Showing a video of himself working weights on his legs, Dele also posted a picture in the Everton gym with the caption: “Little bit of R&R. Little bit of life. A lot of love.”
There is a chance that Dele could play before the end of the season, which is when his Everton contact expires. Dyche was non-committal when asked recently whether Evertonians would see the attacking midfielder in a royal Blue shirt again.
He said: “”He’s got a long way to go and we have deliberately kept him back from it and I agreed that with him just to give him time and give him space, so that’s what we’re doing. Hopefully he’ll be back, we don’t know.”
“We’re giving him the privacy that he needs at this time. He’s in a good state, I spoke to him recently and had a good, long conversation with him, making sense of another injury is difficult but he’ll come through that I’m sure.”
