Everton set ‘big’ James Garner price tag as Tottenham and Newcastle United swoop

Everton are keen to turn a profit on midfielder James Garner as they anticipate bids in the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (19 February) that Tottenham and Newcastle United are keeping tabs on Garner, 22, ahead of a potential swoop.

A well-placed source has now told Football Insider that Garner “ticks a lot of boxes” for both clubs with the off-season rapidly approaching.

Spurs and Newcastle will be in the market for midfield reinforcements this summer.

Garner joined Everton from Man United in 2022 for £15million.

Everton want ‘big’ Garner profit as Tottenham and Newcastle prepare to go head-to-head
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the Toffees will be keen to bank a “big” profit on the midfield star and will hold out for around £20-25million.

The former Nottingham Forest loanee will have two years remaining on his contract in June.

Young English players are at a premium, meaning Everton can hold out for a big-money fee for Garner despite their dire financial situation.

It is believed Sean Dyche’s side will face a real battle to keep the versatile midfielder in the summer window – especially if they suffer relegation to the Championship.

He has made 22 Premier League starts in 30 appearances across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign, notching two goals and one assist.

Everton’s ability to demand a big fee for Garner could depend on their top-flight status.

The Toffees, who were deducted 10 points earlier this season, moved out of the relegation zone on goal difference on Monday (19 February) after drawing 1-1 against Crystal Palace.
