“View”- If West Ham reporter’s new claim is true then David Moyes should be sacked tonight

David Moyes has overseen an absolutely woeful run of form over the past six or seven weeks at West Ham, and Hammers co-owner David Sullivan is believed to be actively searching for a replacement for the Scot.

West Ham are without a win in eight games in all competitions, and we have seen our hopes of a top six finish in the Premier League table disappear into the distance.

The football being rolled out by Moyes on a continual basis is totally unacceptable, especially given the sheer amount of top-class players he has at his disposal now.

He was getting away with it when the results were good, but now he has absolutely no place to hide. The likes of Graham Potter are being linked with replacing the Scot, and if the poor results and performances continue, he will surely be sent packing.

The board will not sack him before our next two games against Brentford and Everton, but if the latest claims are true, I think he should go tonight…

According to the Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg, some West Ham players are ‘understood to be unenthused with Moyes’s brand of football’.

That really is no surprise is it! The calibre of players we have at the London Stadium now means that Moyes has no excuse for failing to set his team up on the front foot.

However, time and time again he approaches games with a negative and almost defeatist mindset. Not good enough.

I have no doubt in my mind that Moyes will not be the Hammers manager come the start of next season. This brand of football quite simply isn’t sustainable – even the greats like Jose Mourinho have found that out the hard way.

The problem now is that, if Steinberg’s claim is true, and there are some players who are questioning Moyes’s methods, then the Scot needs to be sacked tonight.

We can’t have players downing tools mid-season, when we are still well capable of achieving great things.

West Ham can still enjoy success in the Europa League and we can undoubtedly finish inside the top seven in the Premier League, so David Moyes being sacked right now may well save our season.

However, if the board dither and keep the 60-year-old for too long, our season may well end up fizzling out into nothing.
