Idrissa Gueye says he’s been urging ‘incredible’ World Cup winner to join Everton 

Everton have very little funds in their transfer kitty, so any signings they make either have to be bought from proceeds made by selling their stars, or by acquiring a coup.

In Idrissa Gana Gueye, the latter was certainly in effect, as he re-joined the Toffees for a pittance just three years after he had left for £30m.

As one of the many foreign stars who form an unbreakable and unrelenting bond with the club, he has been vocal about his love for a team that he has played in for four and a half years in total now.

His devotion to the club is emphasised through his work rate in the midfield, which is impressively unceasing.

And now, it seems that has extended to off the field, where he is now tireless in his pursuit to try and get one of his former teammates to move to Goodison Park.

Whilst Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi would likely be the most sought-after of Gueye’s former teammates, Paris Saint-Germain unsurprisingly boast a wealth of talent most of whom would waltz into Sean Dyche’s starting side.

One such name would have been Julian Draxler, who is perhaps a forgotten figure in France after his move back in 2017.

Somewhat failing to live up to the immense potential he exhibited back when he starred for Schalke 04 and VfL Wolfsburg, he has still enjoyed a stellar career laden with silverware, including the 2014 World Cup with Germany.

His national team coach, Joachim Low, even outlined the ‘incredible‘ technical ability and pace he boasted at the time.

Gueye, having revealed how he used to force Mbappe to watch Everton with him, has also outlined his persistent efforts to tempt the 30-year-old maestro to join him in Merseyside.

‘I remember Draxler every time we lose, he would go ‘you see your team, they are not good!’ and I would say, ‘We will survive’ so the day we survived against Crystal Palace he said ‘you were lucky’ and I said ‘I told you’. I told him to come to Everton but he hasn’t listened.’

Well, having moved to Qatar only recently, it seems unlikely that a move would be on the cards now.

However, it could be argued that Draxler would have thrived under Dyche, in the role that Abdoulaye Doucoure is currently enjoying despite his injury issues.

The German creator too has that scoring touch, but also the touch of quality to link up play and play that killer pass.

Already he boasts two goals and two assists in just four appearances in the Qatari Stars League, and across an impressive career in which he has amassed 491 appearances, he has mustered an impressive 183 goal contributions.

Although perhaps lacking the required work rate to truly succeed at Everton, it would certainly have been an exciting move to have the Toffees enjoy someone of his quality.
