Tony Cascarino admitted live on air on Monday that he would be “amazed” if Everton were unable to survive this season despite their 10-point deduction.
The Toffees are currently floundering in the relegation zone, one point behind Luton Town, and are without a win in seven Premier League matches.
Their victory came during a 2-0 win over Burnley in December, following an incredible run of results against Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United and Chelsea.
Speaking via talkSPORT on Sunday (11 February, 6:14am), the former Aston Villa striker said: “There will be better days for Everton towards the end of the season. There were a couple of big results yesterday – Nottingham Forest losing has given Everton a helping hand.
“I think Everton will be OK. I think they have enough. Their deduction has played a big part in where they are currently, but they’ve probably got the best chance of surviving out of the bottom six. I’ll be amazed if they don’t finish above Forest and Luton Town because I think the squad is good enough.”
Turnaround needed at Everton
Despite being a relegation-threatened team, the defence is not causing an issue at Goodison Park, with only Aston Villa, Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool conceding fewer goals this season than the Toffees.
Without the 10-point deduction due to a breach in Profit and Sustainability regulations, Everton would be three points off a top-half spot in the Premier League table. However, that is not enough to cover up the current problems at the club.

Goals have been incredibly hard to come by, with only Burnley and Sheffield United netting fewer goals so far. With the multiple injuries that Abdoulaye Doucoure has faced so far and Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s poor form, Everton are certainly struggling.
It should normally always be seen as an issue when Doucoure is Sean Dyche’s top scorer, especially when the Frenchman is only on six goals for the season. Calvert-Lewin will be desperate to make an impact before the end of the season, and if Everton want to survive, they will be desperate for him to do so.
