Boston Celtics’ Jaylen Brown Reportedly Signs $304 Million Extension—Richest Deal In NBA History
Jaylen Brown signed a five-year, $304 million supermax contract extension with the Boston Celtics on Tuesday, the richest deal in NBA history, according to multiple reports, surpassing a record set by the Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic last month.

Brown’s contract will keep him on the Celtics’ roster through the end of the 2028 season and pay him $52.3 million in its first year before reaching $69.1 million in its final year, his agent Jason Glushon told ESPN.
The contract is fully guaranteed and Brown is ineligible for a no-trade clause—allowing players to veto trades to specific teams—because he signed an extension, according to the Athletic.
Brown will earn $31.8 million next year through the end of his previous contract.
Jokic—a two-time NBA MVP and a reigning league champion—set the previous record for the NBA’s richest deal last month after signing a five-year, $264 million contract extension with the Nuggets.

KEY BACKGROUND
Brown became eligible for a “supermax” contract extension after being named second-team All-NBA during the 2022 season. A “supermax” contract allows teams to pay players 35% of the NBA’s salary cap—set at just over $136 million—with an 8% increase each year. Brown, drafted by the Celtics in 2016, finished with career-highs in points (26.6) and shooting percentage (49%) last season, helping lead his team to the Eastern Conference Finals. Brown also serves as the vice president of the NBA’s players’ union, the National Basketball Players Association.
