Everton: Andy Dunn predicts ‘big trouble’ at Goodison Park with appeal verdict imminent
Andy Dunn says Everton will be in “big trouble” if they are unsuccessful with their imminent 10-point appeal verdict.
Everton put their case forward last week and are now waiting to hear back as to whether the points deduction – or some of it – will be overturned.
The Toffees find themselves in the Premier League relegation zone, but could climb as high as 12th if the whole deduction is wiped out.
Speaking on the Football Digest podcast [7 February, 33m 57s], The Mirror journalist Dunn said: “If you’re going to pick one of the other teams [beyond Sheffield United and Burnley] for the drop, I think Crystal Palace.
“I do also actually think, and it pains me to say it, but if Everton don’t get any points back, and don’t benefit from their appeal, which they’ll know about very soon, I think they’re in big trouble.
“They can’t score goals at the moment and are not looking as dangerous as they did immediately after the charge. Everton will need some help from that appeal to stay up.”
Everton appeal verdict latest
The biggest result Everton can pull off this season is in the courtroom, rather than on the football field.
If they are successful with the appeal, then any sort of relegation fears will be banished in an instant.
Should they be unsuccessful, though, then they quite simply need to start getting some victories on the board over the coming weeks.
Thankfully, this particular case is now drawing to a conclusion and we should know a final outcome one way or another very soon.

However, there is then the small matter of the second PSR charge, which could potentially drag on until after the season concludes if anything does indeed come of it.
In an ideal world, Everton will be well clear of the relegation zone so that the second charge matters little either way.
But that is unlikely to happen, so strap yourselves in for a bumpy ride that may well last for another four months or so.
