Ally McCoist tips Sean Dyche for Manchester United job amid ‘disaster’ Everton points deduction

Ally McCoist and Jeff Stelling have gushed over “different class” Everton boss Sean Dyche live on talkSPORT, and tipped him for the Manchester United job should Erik ten Hag face the sack.

The former Rangers striker was very vocal in his admiration for the boss, insisting he would get the club out of trouble as long as they could avoid another points deduction, which he claimed would be disastrously.

Both McCoist and Stelling then questioned whether he could manage Man United, claiming that while the fans would likely be unhappy with it, he would do a job for them.

Speaking live on talkSPORT [30 January, 06:54], McCoist shared: “He’s different class, I’m a fan. You talk about managers you’d like to play for, Sean Dyche is one of them.

“Very, very good at what he does. I think they’ll be fine as long as they don’t get another points deduction, but you would not bet against Sean Dyche getting them out of trouble again.”

After a fan messaged claiming Dyche would improve Manchester United, McCoist responded: “I’d take him right now, and you’d love to see it, wouldn’t you? Absolutely. A lot of the Man United fans are probably throwing their hands up in horror at the prospect, but why not? He’s good at what he does.”

Stelling then shared: “You could say they took David Moyes and that didn’t work out, but equally they took Jose Mourinho and it didn’t work out. They took Louis van Gaal and that didn’t work out.”

Asked whether Everton could face relegation this season, McCoist then claimed: “I don’t think they will go down, as it happens. I’ve not got a crystal ball but I hope from an Everton fan’s point of view they don’t get another points deduction, that would be an absolute disaster.”

Of course, things aren’t going to be smooth at Goodison Park this season, that was decided as soon as the Premier League handed the club a ten-point deduction, but Dyche is doing all he can to keep things as steady as possible and is making a fantastic job of it.

Tips of Manchester United might be a bit high in the sky for the boss, but the fundamental point both McCoist and Stelling are making is that he is a safe pair of hands who gets the best out of the cards that he is dealt.

The league table may not paint a pretty picture at Goodison Park, but if there is any man you’d want to get you out of trouble it would be Dyche, and he has proved that already in his year on Merseyside.

A second points deduction would be a disaster for Everton. They overcame the first one almost immediately, but whether the second would have the same galvanising effect, rather than knocking morale, seems unlikely.
