Incredible! 23-year-old midfielder addresses rumours that he could move to Celtic this month
With time running out for Celtic to add the desired quality that Brendan Rodgers so badly needs to their first team, the latest comments from a reported target may well leave the fans worried.
Gwangju FC midfielder, Jeong Ho-yeon has spoken out again about the possibility of a move to Parkhead after recent speculation surrounding the 23-year-old had died down.
TBR Celtic told back in October how the South Korean had admitted that he only heard about Celtic’s apparent interest through his agent.
And now with the transfer window coming to a close, it seems that there has never been any contact between the player and the Parkhead club.
The midfielder has spoken out once more about the rumours and whilst he said it would be a dream to challenge himself abroad, it seems that a move to the east end of Glasgow may not be on.
Ho-yeon said [Jeonnam Ilbo], “I haven’t heard anything about a move to Celtic.
“But the dream of challenging myself abroad is an ongoing process.
“I want to know where I stand and how I am viewed when I am in a new environment, and it will be an opportunity to mature as a player.”
With Ho-yeon predominantly a defensive midfielder, it’s hard to see how he would even get on the bench never mind into the Celtic first team ahead of Odin Thaigo Holm, Tomoki Iwata and Callum McGregor.
Brendan Rodgers has plenty of options in that area of the team and with the Celtic manager recently loaning out Hyeokkyu Kwon, adding what seems to be another project player doesn’t make any sense.
It’s my opinion that this move will not happen. Especially after reading what Ho-yeon has just admitted. With under five days left of the window, the clock is ticking for Rodgers to get the players in that the team clearly need to help bolster the title defence.
