Steelers Star Will Return for Playoffs
The Pittsburgh Steelers will get a massive piece of their defense back if they make the playoffs.

PITTSBURGH — If everything breaks their way and the Pittsburgh Steelers are able to sneak into the playoff field, they’ll get a massive piece of their fractured defense back just in time for Wild Card Weekend.

Steelers star free safety Minkah Fitzpatrick told reporters following a 17-10 win over the Ravens on the road – the first piece of solving the playoff puzzle in Week 18 – that he would play if his team makes the postseason.

Fitzpatrick has been in and out of the lineup with multiple injuries this season. He suffered a hamstring strain in Week 8 that kept him sidelined for four weeks and three games into his return, he was hit with another injury to his knee that has prevented him from playing for the final three weeks of the regular season.

The Steelers have relied on a patchwork group of safeties to help cover for the absence of Fitzpatrick and Damontae Kazee, who was suspended for the season following an illegal hit against the Colts in Week 15.

Trenton Thompson, Eric Rowe and Patrick Peterson have filled in admirably as the Steelers make a late-season push towards the playoffs, but they will be overjoyed to get their superstar free safety back in the lineup for the biggest game of the year.
