this transfer window would be opportunistic rather than proactive for Everton but in reportedly attempting to hijack Sevilla’s loan move for Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri, the Blues could be trying to take a timely opportunity to have presented itself.

Goodison Park chiefs know all about the ‘dog-eat-dog’ world of rivals coming in for a player’s signature at the 11th hour after Arnaut Danjuma’s proposed loan move from Villarreal collapsed in the January window last year. It now appears like the ball is in Tunisia international Hannibal’s court but the hierarchy at Old Trafford prefer their prospects to be farmed out to other clubs in the English game to give them the requisite skill set to make it at the Red Devils.

Although Sevilla are one of the big names in European football, Erik ten Hag and his staff could now be pointing the 20-year-old in the direction of Sean Dyche’s side for what could be a temporary switch that suits all parties. After all, Hannibal wouldn’t even have to change his barber!

Everton loanee set to return to the club

Everton prospect Stanley Mills is set to return to the club for rehabilitation treatment after he suffered a serious injury towards the end of Oxford United’s FA Cup third round tie at Coventry City on Saturday.

The 20-year-old, who is the son of former England international Danny Mills, joined League One Oxford Untied on a season-long loan on July 27 but fans at the Coventry Building Society Arena were left shocked when he fell to the turf awkwardly and had to be stretchered off after hurting himself attempting to have a shot on goal in his side’s 6-2 defeat to opponents who narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League last year when losing the Championship play-off final with Luton Town on penalties.

The right winger has played 16 matches for the Us this term, and scored once in a 3-0 win at Fleetwood Town on September 16.

Everton transfer plan could come together with Hannibal Mejbri coup

As Hannibal used to say on 1980s action-adventure series The A-Team “I love it when a plan comes together” and if Everton were able to convince a Manchester United wonderkid to join them ahead of Sevilla, it would represent quite the coup for director of football Kevin Thelwell.

This Hannibal (surname Mejbri) is a midfielder from Ivry-sur-Seine, in the south-eastern suburbs of Paris who has progressed through the academy at Old Trafford since arriving from Monaco in 2019. Fabrizio Romano reports that Everton are trying to hijack Sevilla’s loan move for the 20-year-old after he chose the Spanish side over Freiburg and Olympique Lyonnais but with the Blues showing interest, it was now up to the player.

Mejbri, who has played more internationals (27) than Premier League games (eight) turns out for Tunisia, the birthplace of his parents and the region’s most-famous hero of classical antiquity, the general Hannibal who famously led his elephants across the Alps when fighting the Roman Republic in the Second Punic War, who hailed from Carthage, the ancient city by Lake Tunis. Just what might this spectacularly-coiffured prospect potentially offer Sean Dyche’s side then?

Everton stance on Amadou Onana transfer revealed

Everton would prefer to sell Belgian midfielder Amadou Onana in the summer transfer window rather than parting ways half-way through the season, according to reports.

The 22-year-old midfielder has impressed across his time at Goodison Park since arriving from LOSC Lille in 2022, which has now sparked the interest of clubs such as Arsenal who continue to be linked with a move for the player.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has since offered an update on the latest developments surrounding Onana in his Daily Briefing across the January transfer window. “Another Everton story I’m seeing a lot is Amadou Onana,” said Romano.

“For sure, interest is there since a long time from English and Spanish clubs – Onana is super appreciated around Europe.

“However, there is currently no substantial update on this one. Obviously, Everton would prefer to sell him in the summer rather than during the middle of the season.”

Everton ‘exploring’ Jesse Lingard transfer

Everton are ‘exploring’ a deal to sign former Manchester United playmaker Jesse Lingard, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Lingard, 31, is currently without a club after parting ways with Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window, having scored just two goals across his 20 appearances for the club last season.

The former England international, who enjoyed some of his finest days while on loan at West Ham United back in the 2020/21 with nine goals and four assists to his name, could now be given a transfer life-line by Sean Dyche and the Toffees, who are reportedly exploring a deal to sign the player.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Dean Jones commented on the possibility of Lingard arriving at Goodison Park, as they seek reinforcements during the transfer window. “Lingard needs to find a club soon because we are at the stage where he seems like an ex-footballer, and that’s not great at the age of 31,” he said.
