What Sean Dyche must now do as claim on Arnaut Danjuma future emerges at Everton

One story around Everton in January concerns the future of Arnaut Danjuma whose future is uncertain and Sean Dyche has a decision to make.

Arnaut Danjuma to Everton was a move months in the making after a January 2023 move fell through leaving the Toffees short. He instead went to Tottenham Hotspurs where he was ultimately deemed insufficient.

He finally made his move to Everton last summer though on a season-long loan which thus far hasn’t lived up to expectations.

Seen as the third-choice winger in the squad – Danjuma seems to be stuck behind both Dwight McNeil and Jack Harrison with these two finding some phenomenal form in early December.

This difficulty in finding proper game-time has left Danjuma now convinced he should be leaving Everton, according to journalist Paul Brown who spoke with GiveMeSport exclusively.

Brown’s verdict on Danjuma explained that the winger may think his best bet is to depart Everton in January for game time.

He explained: “For Danjuma, I guess the situation is not ideal. I could understand that he might be looking around thinking that he isn’t going to get the minutes he wants at Everton and needs a move somewhere.

“I don’t think he has pulled up any trees for Everton, and I doubt he is going to get many more chances than he has already.”

This comes the week after Danjuma was linked with a departure as Lyon are said to be keen on taking him off both Everton and Villareal’s hands.

So the question stands, what should Dyche do with Danjuma?

There are arguments on both sides of this debate, but in the grand scheme of things, Everton can’t afford to keep a player who is underperforming and likely wants to leave.

He’s earning a huge £52.5k-a-week at Goodison Park according to Capology, which is a substantial amount considering Everton’s circumstances.

As Everton looks like they want to bring a new winger in, cutting Danjuma could be the move that needs to happen in order to see this take place.

Danjuma was once hailed as “an exceptional player” by Jonathan Woodgate on the EFL Podcast back in 2021.

The Dutch winger has played 16 times this season for Everton scoring twice however Everton can likely get better than this in the form of one of the many wingers they’re linked with.
