‘The price might come down’… Journalist says Tottenham could have £20m player signed up by Friday

Tottenham Hotspur could have their first signing of the January transfer window sealed by the end of this week.

Speaking on The Debrief, Ben Jacobs has been discussing Radu Dragusin and his ongoing links to Spurs, and he’s very positive about the chances of this deal going ahead.

lsewhere, Jacobs says that personal terms have been agreed, and now, a transfer fee just needs to be agreed.

• Jacobs says that Genoa’s asking price for the defender may actually come down, claiming that while Genoa would like €30m (£25m) for Dragusin, Spurs value him more at the £20m mark.

Jacobs shared what he knows about the defender.

“Dragusin has become a priority, Ange Postecoglou is playing a big role in this one. The player has already given the greenlight, this is now just about can a fee be agreed? You might see some reports out there saying Genoa want €30m, but my understanding is the price might come down a little bit, Spurs were looking between the £17-20m mark, that’s’s pushing €25m at the top end. While the parties may be a few million Euros apart, there’s only a few million in the negotiations, and although structure will be important, there’s a real possibility this one gets done in the next 48 hours or so,” Jacobs said.

This is not the Tottenham Hotspur we have grown to know in the transfer market.

Spurs have been the archetypal late movers in the transfer window over the years. Their biggest signing of the summer was Brennan Johnson on deadline day, while in the last two January transfer windows, Pedro Porro, Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur were all signed late on.

Spurs usually do their business late on, but it looks as though they may get the Dragusin deal over the line in the first week of the window.

Tottenham are moving swiftly, but whether or not this proves to be a smart signing remains to be seen.
