As running back Jaylen Warren sprinted towards the end zone, Pickens refrained from throwing a crucial block, later explaining, “I didn’t want to get injured.”

Addressing the criticism, Pickens defended his choice, referencing a season-ending injury suffered by Houston Texans rookie Tank Dell earlier in the year.
“I was trying to prevent the Tank Dell situation, the same thing that happened to Tank Dell,” Pickens explained.
In the game’s aftermath, Pickens faced significant backlash for his decision, with media and fans questioning his determination on the field.
However, the second-year wide receiver dismissed the criticism, attributing it to those who “don’t play football” and stating, “They do what you all do.”

Coach Mike Tomlin’s recent comments about Pickens’ frustration and a subsequent “great meeting” with the player to address recent concerns raised questions.
However, Pickens later denied the meeting took place, leading to confusion later clarified by a public relations representative.
