Arnaut Danjuma could quit Everton as serious talks already held
Arnaut Danjuma could quit Everton already, with Villarreal having already seriously discussed a potential recall from his loan spell, according to Spanish outlet Cadena SER.
The news source reported via their website on 20 December that Villarreal view Danjuma as a ready-made solution to their winger issues, with Yeremi Pino injured and Ben Brereton-Diaz possibly facing an exit.
Since arriving at Everton on loan in the summer, the winger has made 12 appearances and scored just two goals, leading many to think a return to Spain may be his best option.
It has become fairly clear in recent weeks that Dyche simply doesn’t rate Danjuma. He was handed 18 minutes off the bench in the penalty defeat to Fulham in the Carabao Cup as his only minutes in Everton’s last five games.
In fact, of Everton’s last ten games, Danjuma has appeared just three times, with his only start coming in a League Cup tie against Burnley.
While the form has picked up greatly under the guidance of Dyche, Danjuma cannot find a place in the team and doesn’t appear to fit into any position in the current tactical set-up. He’s not enough of a work-horse to play on the wing, and not physical enough to play up front.
Since he arrived at Goodison Park, it has felt as if the deal was done more out of opportunity than desire. The chance of getting a player on loan who they had targeted previously arose, and Everton jumped at that chance.
Where he fits into Dyche’s team is yet to be discovered, if he does at all, so a return to Villarreal could be the best opportunity for all parties. The only drawback would be that it would diminish the depth of Dyche’s squad at Goodison Park.
