Dan Plumley has insisted that legal cases being dropped against Everton is a positive for the whole football dynamic, not just them.
Neil Moxley questioned the decision of relegated clubs to negotiate rather the sue, with those plans being dropped at the start of December [Sunday People, 3 December].
The finance expert admitted that any compensation fees would have lit the blue touch paper across the entire game, with plenty of other payouts potentially needed.
“I think in the here and now, it’s one less thing to worry about for the club,” he exclusively told Goodison News.
“They’ve got a fair amount going on and I think wider, it’s an interesting dynamic as well because when we talk about revisiting it in the future, it could be, but I think the compensation fee argument could have been the one to light the blue touch paper across the game.
“How many other compensation fees would we have seen or claims? We don’t know, so I think for Everton here and now, if that’s gone away you take the positives from.
“It also might be a bit of a positive for the wider football industry because you can really go down the rabbit hole with that when you start to think about how that may affect things in the future.
“It’s probably not gone away, it’s a short-term take the positives, but it will be an interesting one to look at how it plays out in the long term.”
