Jack Harrison was reportedly in the middle of his medical at Leicester City when Leeds United pulled the plug on a potential transfer.

The winger had been linked with a move to the East Midlands during the January window. Leeds considered letting him join the Foxes on deadline day in a deal worth £20million.

While the Yorkshire outfit mulled over whether or not to sell him, Harrison apparently “made the trip to Leicester’s training ground” in case a deal was agreed ahead of the deadline. The club are even said to have set up a medical as they waited for a response from Leeds.

United only made their decision late in the day on Tuesday, telling City that they would not be selling Harrison. Their answer came while the medical was taking place, according to The Athletic.

The report adds that the player did not “agitate” for a move, but he would have earned a bigger salary at City. Leeds considered selling up as a means of balancing the books.

Harrison could become available again in the summer. At that point he will only have 12 months left on his current deal, meaning he could move at a reduced price if he doesn’t sign a contract extension.

Leeds signed Harrison on a permanent transfer from Manchester City in 2021 for around £11m following three consecutive seasons on loan at Elland Road. He has been one of their most productive players in the Premier League, producing 17 goals and 13 assists since winning promotion from the Championship.
