Spurs loanee Lo Celso after Villarreal progress to CL semi-final

Cristian Romero and Manuel Lanzini were just some of the players to congratulate, Tottenham Hotspur loanee, Giovani Lo Celso on Instagram, after he was part of one of the biggest Champions League upsets on Tuesday night.

Villarreal, with a 1-0 lead going into the second leg, scored a late equaliser against Bayern Munich to dump them out of the Champions League and book their semi-final spot.

Lo Celso started in the middle of the park for the Europa League winners, and after winning the Man of the Match award from the first leg, he backed it up with another impressive performance in Munich.

Only a number of months ago, Tottenham’s big-money signing was struggling in north London, now he is three games away from having a Champions League winners medal around his neck.

West Ham’s Lanzini, who is a fellow countryman of Lo Celso’s, simply reacted to his Instagram post by saying ‘tremendous’, whilst Romero added ‘big bro’ alongside clapping emojis.

Unai Emery has done quite the job at the Spanish club and that with a number of former Tottenham players on his books.

In the summer, Spurs ripped up Serge Aurier’s contract and he is now going to prepare for the semi-finals of the Champions League with Villarreal – he came on in the dying minutes at the Allianz Arena last night.

Versatile defender, Juan Foyth, is another member of this ever-progressing and over-achieving Villarreal side.

Now playing at right-back on a regular basis, Foyth, is proving a lot of people wrong back in north London.

Étienne Capoue is another ex-Spurs man doing wonders under Emery, alongside Francis Coquelin, who was let go by Arsenal in 2018.

Nonetheless, this Yellow Submarine will be eagerly tuning into what happens at Anfield tonight because the winner of Liverpool and Benfica will meet them in the last four – the Reds have a two-goal cushion from the first-leg.
