NEW DELHI: In the midst of a challenging loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night, the Dallas Cowboys faced another concerning setback as outside linebacker Leighton Vander Esch suffered a neck injury in the fourth quarter of the game. The injury raised significant concerns given Vander Esch’s history with neck issues.

Following the injury on the field, Vander Esch was promptly attended to by medical personnel and subsequently taken to the locker room for further testing and evaluation.
The situation is particularly worrisome due to Vander Esch’s prior neck injuries. In 2016, during his college career at Boise State, he experienced a neck injury.

However, it was a more severe neck injury sustained in 2019 as a member of the Dallas Cowboys that raised significant alarms. In 2019, he missed seven games and ultimately underwent neck surgery after the season.

During Sunday night’s game, the injury occurred when San Francisco’s left tackle, Trent Williams, blocked Vander Esch into the side of Dallas linebacker Micah Parsons during a fourth-quarter play.
