The latest Nottingham Forest news as Everton visit the City Ground in just over a week’s time with fans planning protests against the club’s 10-point deduction.
Sky Sports are planning to take steps in order to avoid the broadcast of offensive language during Everton’s Premier League match against Manchester United on Sunday.
The match at Goodison Park, which is being shown live on Sky Sports at 4.30pm, is the first time that the Toffees will be in action since receiving a 10-point deduction from the Premier League for breaching profit and sustainability rules. The deduction leaves Sean Dyche’s men in the relegation zone, and takes them back below Nottingham Forest in the table.
Everton fan group, the 1878s, have raised more than £40,000 to fund protests that are due to take place before, during, and after the game against United. As reported by the Times , it is planned that an offensive chant will be directed towards the Premier League in the 10th minute, with Sky Sports possibly turning down the crowd noise in order to mitigate any offensive language being broadcast.
The decision will be taken due to Ofcom’s regulations which state that broadcasters should avoid televising material that could cause offence to viewers. Given the kick off time is pre-watershed, action is likely to be taken to reduce how much the language can be heard on TV.
Other parts of the protest include the group hiring a plane with a banner to fly over Saturday lunchtime’s clash between Man City and Liverpool. 38,000 pink cards with the Premier League logo and the word ‘corrupt’ will also be distributed to Everton fans for the game vs Man United.
