Dallas Cowboys fans reacted to Jerry Jones’ major announcement Sunday morning regarding former head coach Jimmy Johnson. After years of denying Johnson a spot in the Cowboy’s Ring of Honor, Jones announced the legendary coach would make it this year.
Johnson won two Super Bowls for the Cowboys. However, Johnson and Jones had a public spat in 1994 that led to Johnson leaving the Cowboys after Jones told the media any coach could have won the two Super Bowls Johnson was a part of.
Jones recently has softened his stance towards Johnson. Jones said he should have shown Johnson more tolerance during his success with the Cowboys.

Patrick Mahomes’ injury status suddenly changes in Week 11
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ status on the injury report changed to start Week 11. The Chiefs released their first injury report for Week 11 on Thursday afternoon as they held their first practice ahead of their “Monday Night Football” game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Mahomes had been on the Chiefs injury report since the Sunday morning before the game against the Denver Broncos in Week 8. He was placed on the injury report for the flu. Then, Mahomes’ name popped up on the Week 9 injury report for a left-hand injury due to a cut he received against the Broncos. He finished that game with a glove on his left hand. Even though Mahomes was on the injury report in Week 9, he was a full participant all three days at practice and was able to play in the Chiefs’ win over the Miami Dolphins. Patrick Mahomes injury status changes for Week 11 Mahomes was able to use the bye last week to heal his left hand completely. According to the Chiefs injury report released Thursday, Mahomes is no longer on the injury report. In fact, the Chiefs had more good news, as everyone on the injury report was a full participant at practice. That’s excellent news for the Chiefs, as they’ll play a rematch of Super Bowl LVII. The Chiefs will need everyone, especially Mahomes, to be at 100 percent when they play the Eagles.

NHL Rumors: New York Rangers, and the Columbus Blue Jackets
Will Filip Chytil‘s injuries lead the New York Rangers to be in the market for a center? Larry Brooks of the NY Post: There are some concerns with New York Rangers forward Filip Chytil as he’s had four concussions and has been sideline 10 times since 2018-19. The Rangers could use a top-six right winger, though Kaapo Kakko is still in the mix. The Rangers may have to look for a center to replace Chytil if his health remains an issue. They many need to use their cap space and assets for a center and not a winger. Nick Bonino may be a patchwork fill on the third line at center. The Blue Jackets have some pieces to move and there’ve been some recent benchings Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek on the 32 Thoughts: The Podcast – All Eyes are Sweden episode on the Columbus Blue Jackets. ** NHLRumors.com transcription Friedman: “You know, Columbus to me is really interesting. They’ve been a team that has definitely not stopped looking for centers. They got a couple extra D. We’ve mentioned (Andrew) Peeke a lot. I think some teams have been in there to look at (Adam) Boqvist too. So Columbus is interested in dealing. So we’ve been talking about Columbus for a while now working on some things like that. I just wonder if we ever get to the point here where maybe Columbus is talking about some bigger deals than we thought because of the all the benching that they’re doing and the messages that they’re sending. Like, I don’t have a problem, Jeff with tough love. I don’t. If my boss doesn’t feel like I’m giving my best. They have every right in the world to say to me, you’re not doing it, and if it doesn’t get better, they can demote me, or they can take me off the air or whatever. But, you know, Jeff, I always try to put myself in everybody’s shoes here and imagine if this was to happen to me in a work environment. And eventually, you get to a point where someone says this, isn’t working, or what’s the solution here, or I just don’t want to keep getting pinched all the time. And you know, if you’re not playing well, that’s on you. But if you begin to wonder if the fit makes sense. I just wonder where all of this goes.”

Colin Kaepernick gets heavily criticized by NFL fans for turning down pro QB job
NFL fans criticized former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick for turning down an opportunity to play quarterback at the professional level again. Kaepernick has not been signed to an NFL roster since he entered free agency during the 2017 offseason. Kaepernick made controversial statements during his time with the 49ers, making it less likely that owners would want to take a risk on the quarterback who led the 49ers to an NFC championship. Kaepernick accused the NFL of collusion to keep him out of the league. He reached a confidential settlement with the NFL. But Kaepernick has tried to fight for a spot on a roster since the 2017 offseason. Kaepernick recently wrote a letter to the New York Jets asking the team to take a chance on him with a practice squad spot. The Jets had backup quarterback issues after losing their starting quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, for the season with an Achilles injury. Per a screenshot posted on Twitter by Dov Kleiman, Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) made a statement that he met and offered Kaepernick and his agents an opportunity to join the XFL. Johnson is a co-owner of the XFL. Johnson doesn’t think Kaepernick will take the offer. Kaepernick has so far turned down the offer to play in the XFL. As Kleiman says, the XFL pays much less than the NFL. NFL Fans react to Colin Kaepernick’s XFL decision Fans commented harshly on Kaepernick’s decision not to join the XFL. That’s the best path the 35-year-old quarterback possibly has to get back into the NFL. Here are the best takes questioning Kaepernick’s decision.

Cowboys make huge announcement about Jimmy Johnson
It has been more than two years since Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones announced that Jimmy Johnson will be inducted into the team’s Ring of Honor, and there is finally a set plan for when that will happen. During an appearance on “Fox NFL Kickoff” Sunday, Jones announced that Johnson will be inducted into the Cowboys Ring of Honor on Dec. 30. The Cowboys also issued a press release announcing the news. Johnson rebuilt the Cowboys and won back-to-back Super Bowls with them. He is a big part of the reason why the team became so popular in the 1990s. Jones kept Johnson out of the team’s Ring of Honor for several years, accusing Johnson of “disloyalty.” Johnson and Jones parted ways in 1994 after Jerry wanted a greater role in personnel decisions instead of allowing Johnson to continue being in charge. Jones and Johnson emphasized on Sunday how they never disagreed on football matters. They acknowledged that they were “careless” with their relationship and stopped communicating toward the end of Johnson’s tenure as head coach in Dallas. They said their relationship is in a much better place now. Jones finally seemed to end the feud two years ago when he revealed before the Hall of Fame Game on Fox that he plans to induct Johnson into the Ring of Honor. Johnson responded by zinging Jones for keeping him out for so long. For whatever reason, Jones dodged questions about when Johnson would be inducted for two years. We now have a set date. Johnson is 80 and Jones is 81. The Cowboys honoring Johnson is long overdue.

Mariners acquire veteran infielder from Red Sox
The Red Sox are trading infielder Luis Urías to the Mariners, reports Alex Speier of the Boston Globe (X link). Right-hander Isaiah Campbell is headed to Boston in exchange for Urias’s services per Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times (X link). Urias, 26, was a consensus top-30 prospect in baseball entering the 2019 season. However, the infielder struggled in limited playing time with the Padres and was shipped to Milwaukee in the deal that brought Trent Grisham to San Diego. While Urias struggled through the shortened 2020 season with the Brewers, slashing just .239/.308/.294 while appearing in 41 of the club’s 60 games. Fortunately for Milwaukee, however, Urias broke out during his age-24 season and proceeded to be an above average regular for the Brewers over the next two seasons. From 2021-22, Urias posted a .244/.340/.426 slash line across 1042 trips to the plate while playing strong defense at shortstop, second base, and third base to anchor the club’s infield alongside Willy Adames. The Brewers entered 2023 figuring to once again lean on Urias as a steady presence on the dirt but the 26-year-old was bit by the injury bug before his season could properly begin, landing on the injured list with a hamstring strain just after Opening Day. Urias returned in early June but struggled badly at the plate, slashing a brutal .145/.299/.236 across 20 games with the club this season. That downturn in performance led the Brewers to swap Urias to the Red Sox at the deadline this year. Urias was us
