Odsonne Edouard drops big transfer hint on his Crystal Palace future

Crystal Palace striker Odsonne Edouard has started the season fairly well, but has now hinted that his long-term future may not be at Selhurst Park.

The 25-year-old has often struggled in front of goal since his move from Celtic, but has scored five times in 11 league games this season, matching his total from 35 games last season.

With Edouard beginning to show what he is capable of, the next step for him is to develop consistency in front of goal, as well as improving his all-round performances.

He has now claimed that he wants to improve at Crystal Palace, but may have ambitions to play elsewhere in the future.

Edouard drops hint over Crystal Palace future

Speaking to media at his former club Paris Saint-Germain, the striker revealed that he wants to improve in front of goal to earn a move to a “European” side.

“I try to give the best version of myself every time I step onto a pitch. Making the supporters at Selhurst Park proud is my goal. It is by achieving successful performances that I could aspire to join one of the biggest European clubs,” Edouard stated.

“I strive to become a striker that matters on the European scene. It is therefore important to have a great season with the Eagles.”

Palace fans may not be too happy with Edouard’s comments about eventually moving on, but they have to be taken within context.

The £90k-a-week attacker’s comments were made in French, and the mention of his ambitions of playing for a top European side may highlight his aim of succeeding at the top level, rather than anything disrespectful to Palace.

If Edouard is to achieve his goals of delivering for Crystal Palace and reaching the top, then he will need to maintain his improvement this season. Although his form in front of goal is looking a lot better, he will need to deliver consistently both upfront and when selected out wide, and this is still yet to be seen in a Palace shirt.
