Tottenham hit with suspension after Wolves loss as Postecoglou problems pile up

Having already lost James Maddison to an injury after he was taken off in the 4-1 defeat to Chelsea, Postecoglou will now be forced to make further changes to his side for their next fixture.

That is because Yves Bissouma has picked up his fifth booking of the season, earning the Malian midfielder an automatic one-match suspension in the Premier League. And that ensures he will miss the next game against Aston Villa on November 26 after the international break.

Bissouma has already missed one game through suspension this season after he was sent off in the 1-0 win over Luton last month. The 25-year-old picked up two yellow cards in quick succession, one for simulation, having already been in course for a one-match ban.

But the regulations state that once a red card is shown, the offence is no longer considered a red card and he moved back onto four bookings. However, his indiscipline against Wolves means he will move onto his fifth booking of the season and sit out for the next game.

Postecoglou has plenty of options available in the central midfield area, especially now that Rodrigo Bentancur has returned from an eight-month spell on the sidelines.

Pape Matar Sarr and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are also available to step in while Bissouma is banned, with both players starting the game on Saturday. But after a perfect start to the season, it has proved to be a horrendous week for the Australian.
