Bam Adebayo On Closing Out Games: ‘We Still Have To Hone In On That Side’
Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo is still concerned about their ability to sustain leads late in the game
The Miami Heat are struggling to close out games this season, which is a major reason for their 2-4 record.
Potentially the most notable of which came against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday. The Heat were defeated 109-105 after leading by 15 points late in the third quarter.
Miami claimed their second victory of the season against the Washington Wizards in the in-season tournament. Center Bam Adebayo scored 18 points along with four rebounds and three assists.
“I feel like we still have to get to the film, and we still have to hone in on that side. We gave up 33 points in the fourth. I feel like that’s too much for us to give up, but that’s what film is for,” Adebayo said. “Spo is a maniac when it comes to things like that; the little stuff he always says it doesn’t matter till it does, so the biggest thing for us is to really start taking care of defense.”
For the Heat to find success in the postseason, the ability to sustain leads is crucial. Their improbable NBA Finals run from last year is not replicable.
Guard Tyler Herro is currently the number one option for the Heat, but Adebayo isn’t far behind. His impact on the defensive end makes him a cornerstone of the organization’s future.
The Heat will take on LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers at the Kaseya Center on Monday.
