Wolves star man Pedro Neto poised to miss Sheffield United showdown

Wolverhampton Wanderers look set to be without one of their best attacking players for their forthcoming trip to Sheffield United. Portuguese star Pedro Neto was stretchered off in the second half of Saturday’s 2-2 draw at home to Newcastle United after picking up a hamstring injury.
The forward has been in superb form, contributing seven assists this season. No player in the Premier League has created more goals than Neto during the 2023/24 campaign.
But it looks unlikely that Neto will line up against the Blades on Saturday. The 23-year-old posted on social media: “Apart from all the noise, I am here to say that I will be out for a couple of weeks, but very soon I will be out there stronger than before.
“Already focused on my recovery. See you soon.”
It is a big blow to Wolves, who are currently on a five-match unbeaten run. Neto’s teammate, Hwang Hee-chan, admits Wolves will struggle to cope without their talisman over the coming weeks.
The South Korean said: “We hope he’s OK because such an important player for us. Our thoughts are with him. How can you cope without him?
“He’s an amazing player so it’s going to be very difficult to cover his performances. But we have many good players, such as Sasa (Kalajdzic), Fabio (Silva) and Pablo (Sarabia).
“If you see us in training, you’d understand that our combinations are so good. It’s not just me, (Matheus) Cunha and Neto, but Sasa and Pablo all understand each other very well. So I think we have some players who can cover for Neto.”
Wolves are 12th in the table after racking up 12 points from their 10 matches.
