Jordan Pickford and Seamus Coleman eye ‘new memories’ at Bramley-Moore Dock after Everton development
Jordan Pickford and Seamus Coleman have voiced their desire to make new Everton memories at Bramley-Moore Dock after the Toffees’ new stadium was selected as a Euro 2028 host.
The Blues’ new stadium is set to open midway through the 2024/25 Premier League campaign and has been named as one of five Premier League venues that will hold matches when the UK and Ireland host the European Championships in 2028.
That will mean that both Coleman and Pickford’s nations will be playing at their current club’s new home ground and while both players have admitted they will miss Goodison Park, they believe the new stadium and the Euros will be a welcome boost to the city of Liverpool.
As quoted by the Liverpool Echo on Tuesday (10 October) Pickford said: “The stadium looks magnificent and it’s great for us as a club, and for the city for the bid to be successful.
“We have so many memories of Goodison, but hopefully we can create our own memories here. It’s some project and everyone working on it is doing an amazing job.”
Coleman added: “The new stadium here is incredible and how it has all come together is a credit to everyone involved. To be down here to see it and imagine the atmosphere is incredible and it will be a very proud day for everyone involved when we kick a ball for the first time.

“Goodison is special and always will be, but it’s up to us to make new memories here. It’s definitely a more modern stadium and it’s very exciting for the club.”
New memories
It is always strange when a club moves home ground and it is only weirder when they leave a ground that has been their home for so long Everton’s home has always been Goodison Park so there will be some nerves from fans and players over leaving.
But the new stadium at Bramley Moore-Dock presents a chance for the Toffees to flex their muscles and provides a modern home for them to have one of the best stadiums in the country, as shown by its selection as one of the Euro 2028 grounds.
The tournament will provide a welcome financial boost not only for the city but the club as well which cannot be ignored, the aim for Everton between now and then has to be ensuring that they are still a Premier League outfit when 2028 rolls around and that the likes of Pickford and Coleman have created good memories of the new ground.
A crucial step to that could be the potential takeover of 777 Partners, who have agreed on a deal in principle to acquire Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1 per cent stake in the Toffees.
Hopefully, those new owners provide the Blues with a welcome financial boost rather than dragging them further down.
