Before the 54-year-old was sacked in March, Tottenham were awful at the back as teams sliced them open like a knife through butter. And, incredibly, the team’s defensive woes have now been solved by one of the most attacking managers on the planet.

Under Postecoglou, Spurs have conceded an average of just one goal per match and have already kept three clean sheets. And that’s despite the fact the former Celtic boss gives his team the license to attack at will, with the Lilywhites bagging 18 goals in their eight Premier League matches.

Not only has Postecoglou improved his team’s output at both ends of the pitch, but he has also helped individual players reach their top levels. World Cup-winning centre-back Cristian Romero was one player who struggled for form under Conte as the goals flew in at the wrong end of the pitch. But under his new boss, he has been one of the best defenders in England.

And the player’s team-mate Destiny Udogie paid tribute to the Argentina international in the aftermath of the Luton victory. “I think Cuti is a real leader,” the Italian said. “You feel real safe with Cuti and he shows this every day in training and in the games and he helps us a lot.”
