West Ham United ace Kurt Zouma has shared what Mark Noble calls him, and how it makes him feel ‘weird’.
Kurt Zouma was named as the new West Ham club captain this season after Declan Rice left to join Arsenal and Mark Noble retired the year before.
The Hammers have had to make a big transition since the summer of 2022 when Noble hung up his boots.

David Moyes made the call to hand the captaincy to the Frenchman this season and it already sees like the correct decision.
Zouma has led by example at the back and has the full respect of his teammates. It seems like he has the same respect from Noble as well…
The towering French defender has been speaking to the club website about all things West Ham.
And Zouma opened up on the relationship that he now shares with former club captain Mark Noble:

Every time I see Mark Noble now, he calls me ‘skipper’, which is weird because I also call him ‘skipper’! Even if he is not playing any more, he is still the ‘skipper’ because he is Mr West Ham and is the main man here! I get some advice from him, which is always good, and it’s good to have him around the place and at games, so he’s an important person for us.”
Zouma has been exceptional is his role as skipper, so he had better get used to Noble’s new name for him!
The 28-year-old has proven to be a vital player for the Hammers since moving to the London Stadium from Chelsea two years ago.
And Kurt Zouma seems to have reached a new level this season, certainly as far as his leadership skills go, but he still has a long way before he reaches the levels that Mark Noble did.
In truth, he probably never will. Noble spent his entire career at West Ham whilst even if Zouma remains at the London Stadium for the remainder of his playing days he’ll only have been with us for what, 10 years maximum?
Either way, I think he was a superb appointment as the new club captain by Moyes. And I look forward to seeing Zouma improve even more as the season goes on.
