SAD NEWS; Liverpool player misses training ahead of tonight’s Europa League match

Liverpool look set to be without midfielder Stefan Bajcetic for their Europa League clash this evening.

The Spaniard has played just twice so far this season, with Jurgen Klopp confirming that he’d suffered a slight issue following last week’s Carabao Cup win.

And according to the Liverpool ECHO, it looks unlikely that Bajcetic will make a third appearance of the campaign against Union Saint-Gilloise tonight.

They claim that the 18-year-old was not in yesterday’s open training session ahead of the game. Instead, Bajcetic looks to be still recovering from the setback he suffered last week.

The only other first team player missing from yesterday’s session – according to the ECHO – was long-term absentee Thiago Alcantara. Meanwhile, Darwin Nunez was spotted with strapping over his right knee.

Bajcetic continues to sit out
This will be really frustrating for Bajcetic. Having started the first group game away at LASK, the Europa Legaue looks set to give him the chance to get some minutes on the board this season.

With so many midfield options now at Klopp’s disposal, they might be harder to come by in the Premier League now.

So, in theory, Europe should provide Bajcetic a chance to underline why he’s such a ‘fantastic’ talent who can be trusted in more meaningful games.

Unfortunately, Stefan hasn’t had the chance to play all that much since his initial injury back in March. As a result, there’s a hint of danger over his development stagnating and/or Liverpool moving on without him.

From what we’ve seen of the Spain U21 star, he’s good enough for that not to be the case. Klopp obviously rates him very highly and you’d imagine he’d be straight back around the first-team when is possible.

But football can be cruel to young players. Hopefully Bajcetic is back soon so he doesn’t have to find that out.
