Callum Wilson says he’s not going to make James Maddison’s ‘head blow up anymore’ as he suggested that the Tottenham star thinks he’s too good.

The Newcastle United striker admitted that the Tottenham playmaker is ‘doing well’ and he is ‘enjoying’ watching it, as he told The Footballer’s Football Podcast.

After winning the Premier League’s Player of the Month award for August, James Maddison topped that off by winning the Man of the Match award in the north London derby.

This is Tottenham’s biggest game of the season, by far, and after getting his first taste of the derby, he ran the show – Micky van de Ven says he is already the best player he has played with.

The 26-year-old secured two assists, including outfoxing his England teammate, Bukayo Saka.

Well, another one of his England teammates had this to say about the quick-thinking playmaker.

“I think you said enough about him,” said Wilson. “I am not going to repeat it all and make his head blow up anymore because he is already confident as it is.

“He has been doing well, he has been doing well. I like to see it. I enjoy it.”

It’s what Spurs have been crying out for, someone with a bit of arrogance, confidence on the ball and the ability to back it up.

Maddison can talk the talk because the results are there for all to see on the pitch.

And after missing out on Europe last term, if he continues down this current road for large parts of the season, then a return to the Champions League could be on the cards.
