Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer agree on whether Everton’s goal should’ve stood vs Tottenham

Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer have given their verdict on whether Jake O’Brien’s goal should’ve stood for Everton against Tottenham Hotspur.

Jake O’Brien equalised for Everton shortly after Micky van de Ven’s opening goal for the visitors, however, referee Craig Pawson went over to the VAR monitor and overturned it.

Iliman Ndiaye was in an offside position, and referee Craig Pawson deemed him to be interfering with Guglielmo Vicario.

Gary Neville said he was split on whether O’Brien’s goal should’ve stood, and now Lineker and Shearer have had their say on the controversial decision.

Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer not happy Everton’s goal was overturned
Speaking on the Rest Is Football podcast, Lineker and Shearer admitted it didn’t sit easy with them when O’Brien’s goal was disallowed.

Lineker asked: “Al, about the disallowed goal for Everton disallowed goal?

“I mean, he wasn’t given as a foul, he was given offside. He was in an offside position, but he didn’t touch it. It was probably just about interfering with the goalkeeper.”

Shearer responded: “Yeah, I mean, it doesn’t sit easy with me. Well, it’s very difficult to argue with the laws because there’s no way the keeper is stopping that anyway, irrespective of whether someone’s in front of him or not.”

He continued: “The keepers not stopping that, even if someone is in and around him, he’s just not stopping it.
