Gary Neville gives verdict on Jake O’Brien’s disallowed goal for Everton vs Tottenham
Everton had a goal controversially ruled out in their Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur, and Gary Neville has now had his say on the incident.
Micky van de Ven put Tottenham 1-0 to the good from a set-piece, and it seems as though Jake O’Brien responded with a headed goal himself just minutes later.
But, after being sent to the VAR screen, referee Craig Pawson decided to rule out the goal, deeming Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye to be in an offside position and obstructing the goalkeeper.
Speaking on the Sky Sports commentary, former Manchester United defender Gary Neville gave his verdict.

Gary Neville admits Jake O’Brien decision was 50/50
Neville admitted he was completely split on whether O’Brien’s goal should’ve stood for Everton and noticed that the VAR officials looked quite unsure at Stockley Park.
“I don’t think the VAR officials are sure themselves. It’s a 50/50 this one,” the 50-year-old said on commentary.
“From the VAR we were hearing, they’re having a right good look at it.There’s a little bit of contact and it’ll be overturned, I’m sure.”
After the goal was ruled out, Neville added: “It’s not gone down well. You could almost see the fear in the referee’s eyes!

Gary Neville said Jordan Pickford got ‘bullied’ for Tottenham second goal
Jordan Pickford has been earning lots of plaudits this season after his stellar performances for Everton and England.
As such, Pickford was rewarded with a new deal, which could keep him at the club until the day he retires.
However, he didn’t have his finest half against Tottenham, as Neville reckons he was completely ‘bullied’ for Spurs’ second goal from the corner.
“Pickford gets bullied. It’s wicked the delivery from Porro, it’s right on top of the goalkeeper. Pickford has to be stronger. Once he’s taken off balance, he has no chance.
“What a moment for Thomas Frank. His team haven’t been great these last 20 minutes but he’ll feel great going in at half-time.”
