Jarrad Branthwaite’s injury nightmare is set to continue at Everton.
Branthwaite was expected to miss the opening six weeks of Everton’s season, but he has yet to feature for David Moyes’ side despite signing a new five-year contract this summer.

The Blues took to X on 20 October to confirm that the 23-year-old would need surgery to solve the issue, which he will undergo on 21 October.
He will then work on a rehabilitation programme with the club’s medical team following the procedure.

Branthwaite’s injury history will concern Everton amid new developments
The latest developments are par for the course with the England international, as he has suffered with injuries on a regular basis.
He was troubled with ankle injuries when he began his professional career in September 2020 and again in August 2021.
In his loan spell at PSV Eindhoven in March 2023, he suffered a hamstring injury that kept him out for four matches.
Branthwaite also missed a huge chunk of the start of last season with a groin issue, which he ultimately had surgery on, and did not return until October.
Branthwaite played 33 times for the Blues last season
He was missing until gameweek six with injury, then missed two more games
He won 63.4 per cent of ground duels and 59 per cent of aerial duels in the league in the 2024-25 season
He then suffered a hamstring injury in the pre-season friendly against Roma and has not been seen in a matchday squad since, meaning that he has never played a competitive fixture at the Hill Dickinson Stadium yet.

Branthwaite is a key player for the Blues, as shown by the Sofascore graphic above, making 4.4 ball recoveries and 4.7 clearances per 90 minutes.
The latest blow will leave Moyes and Co hugely concerned about the regularity with which he picks up injuries, especially given that he has just penned that new deal to keep him around for the long-term future.
