Pundit says he can’t understand why Man Utd didn’t sign Everton player this summer

Jordan Pickford is one of the most underrated goalkeepers in the Premier League.

Since joining Everton in a £30m transfer from Sunderland in 2017, Jordan Pickford has been the club’s most consistent performer.

With England, Pickford has been equally as good and recently surpassed a record held by the legendary Gordon Banks.

The Toffees shot-stopper has now kept nine consecutive clean sheets in a Three Lions shirt after the victories against Wales and Latvia this international break.

With that said, Charlie Austin can’t understand why Manchester United didn’t try to sign him in the summer transfer window.

Speaking live on Sky Sports on Thursday morning, former Premier League striker and now pundit Charlie Austin can’t get his head around why Man United didn’t go for Pickford in the summer.

“I just feel like when it comes to it, it’s easy to overlook Jordan Pickford because he’s at Everton and they weren’t performing in the Premier League,” Austin explained.

“You’d even argue now, why didn’t Manchester United try to sign him in the summer with their goalkeeper struggles?

“He’s done phenomenally well for Everton, Everton are a big club and will be a big club for as long as they exist, that’s the long and short of it.”

Jordan Pickford may never leave Everton
Whilst Pickford was away with England, he agreed a new and improved four year deal with the club, which is ready for him to sign when he returns to Finch Farm.

That means the 31-year-old could end up finishing his playing career on Merseyside, so he’s likely to get into the top 10 for most appearances.

Leighton Baines currently sits in 10th on 420 appearances, whilst Pickford is down in 22nd with 326 at the moment.

Either way, he’s already cemented himself as a modern-day Everton legend.
