When Everton appointed David Moyes in January, there were a few doubters.
The way his West Ham United career ended led many to believe it was an uninspiring appointment, however, David Moyes has silenced those naysayers emphatically.
In fact, since Moyes’ return, Everton would actually be sixth in the Premier League table, prior to this gameweek.
The Scotsman is up against his former club this evening and will be expected to win, considering how poorly the Hammers have started the season.
Ahead of the game, Moyes appeared to aim a subtle dig at West Ham’s board.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Moyes admitted that he loved his time at West Ham but appeared to sneak in a dig at the board.
“I think sometimes at football clubs everyone thinks the grass can always be greener but I had a great time at West Ham. I really did.
“A hugely enjoyable time. I got on great with everybody but, you know, if people want to keep changing all the time I don’t know if that is the best way for clubs.”

Since West Ham decided to move Moyes on, they’ve sacked two managers in Julen Lopetegui and Graham Potter and now look like they could be in a relegation battle this season.

However, Moyes is expecting a tough challenge at the Hill Dickinson Stadium this evening.
“They have got a really good team, players who play for lots of countries,” the 62-year-old explained.
“They are tough opposition. I know they have not started well but they are capable of getting something. We will have to be ready for them.”
Paul Merson expects Everton to win 2-0 and Chris Sutton expects the Toffees to be too strong at home as well.
