James Garner has every right to be annoyed with David Moyes as Everton star speaks out
James Garner expressed his frustrations with David Moyes following Everton’s exit from the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
Everton lost 2-0 to Wolves at Molineux, after the Scot had made wholesale changes to the starting line-up that lost to Liverpool.
And Moyes was criticised for his starting selection against Wolves, with many confused by the selection of the likes of Dwight NcNeil.
The visitors were ultimately unlucky on the night, having produced more shots and more expected goals than their hosts, but Wolves took their chances when they came.
The team selection was made especially odd after James Tarkowski had claimed that Moyes’ top priority at Everton is to win a trophy.

Garner went close with a superb free kick against Wolves, and the midfielder was among the only players to come away from the game in a positive light.
The Englishman did not stop trying throughout the 90 minutes, and continues to establish his importance to Moyes’ team.
But amid so many changes to the starting line-up, the 24-year-old was often left to fend for himself.

Garner admitted as much when he spoke after the game. He told The Mirror, page 54, 25 September, that Moyes’ selection made for a “challenge”.
“There are a lot of familiar faces but, at the same time, there are a few new faces as well,” the midfielder said.
“There were a couple of lads who aren’t up to full fitness yet, due to lack of playing time, but I’m sure that will come.
“Not all of us were at the races, so that’s something that we need to work on.”
David Moyes made a critical mistake vs Wolves
It is difficult to understand Moyes’ thinking regarding his selection for the Wolves game.
Given his experience, the Scot should understand better than anyone that there is no easy games against Premier League opposition.
Wolves, whilst currently sitting at the foot of the league table, still present a dangerous team with undoubted quality throughout.
And with Everton’s next game coming on Monday – six days after the Carabao Cup clash – Moyes could have surely got away with starting most of the team expected to start that match.
Instead, the Scot took a risk, and it has massively backfired. Garner’s frustrations will likely be echoed throughout both the team and the fanbase, who would have loved to see the Toffees go on a cup run this season.
