Jamie Carragher names the two Everton players who can exploit ‘vulnerable’ Liverpool

Jamie Carragher has already admitted that there are two Everton players who could get after Liverpool’s vulnerability.

A huge opportunity is on offer for Everton to cause a real upset on Saturday at Anfield against their city rivals.

The first Merseyside Derby is coming early in the season this time around, with David Moyes hoping to end his dreadful record at Anfield.

Ahead of the game, Virgil van Dijk has warned Everton of Liverpool’s set piece ability after he scored from another corner on Wednesday evening.

The strength of the opposition is there for all to see, but Carragher believes Everton have their own strengths which could cause some issues.

Wayne Rooney has praised Everton’s attack following the opening games of the season, with Carragher picking out two real threats.

But there is a feeling among some of the pundits that Everton are going to give Liverpool a real game on Saturday afternoon.

Writing for The Telegraph, Carragher has admitted there are two Everton players who could exploit Liverpool’s vulnerability.

‘The balance of power is in Liverpool’s favour now, but many Everton supporters will say they would rather take a risk by “having a go” at Anfield with attacking weapons like Jack Grealish and Illian Ndiaye, rather than sitting back, trying to win on the counter-attack and suffering a familiar fate,’ he said.

‘Liverpool had a tiring European match in midweek and a 12.30pm Saturday kick-off can make them more vulnerable.’

One journalist did criticise Jack Grealish for overplaying last weekend in Everton’s draw against Aston Villa.

However, Grealish is one of the most in-form players in the Premier League having picked up the Player of the Month for August.

Alongside Iliman Ndiaye, the 30-year-old could cause the Reds some real issues at Anfield.

Carragher also impressed with Everton’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall
Moyes faced Liverpool twice last season despite joining the club halfway through the season, but he will have a vastly different squad to take to Anfield on Saturday.

A lot of work was done over the summer, and Moyes was delighted with Everton’s transfer business.

The Friedkins put their money where their mouth is over the summer and landed some quality additions for the Blues.

Grealish will be the standout addition, but Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has also impressed a number of pundits across the league.

‘He [Moyes] is continuing to do [improve players] so with the core of that squad, helped by clever additions such as Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall,’ Carragher added.

‘It is early days in his new reign, but if Moyes gets Everton where they were when he left, it would be another remarkable achievement.’
