Everton are set for a showdown with Liverpool on Saturday, with both teams confident of getting a result.
The start of the 2025/26 campaign has been fantastic for both Merseyside teams so far, with Everton’s 0-0 draw with Aston Villa sending them sixth.
Jack Grealish has been key to this at Everton, with the signing of the Manchester City loanee proving to be inspirational.
On Wednesday, Liverpool also picked up an important result away from the Premier League as they beat Atletico Madrid 3-2 in the Champions League.
However, the Reds could now face a UEFA fine thanks to some unpleasant scenes at Anfield.

While Liverpool will no doubt be buzzing about their late victory over Atletico Madrid, the result caused chaos on the touchline.
Diego Simeone was at the heart of the incident as the manager was given his marching orders in the aftermath of Simeone’s late winner.
A clip from Epic Red Cards on 18 September via X appears to show one of the Atletico coaches throwing a bottle into the crowd, whereas another one looked to have spat towards the Liverpool supporters.

Speaking to Football Insider on 18 September, former referee Keith Hackett said: “These incidents and appropriate film clips will be examined very carefully to determine the guilt and also examine any future measures that might be taken to avoid this type of incident.”
“I expect both clubs to be involved in the investigation, and UEFA usually take a hard line on these matters. Both clubs could face fines.”
Therefore, whatever happens on Saturday, David Moyes needs to make sure that he keeps his cool.
A late winner or defeat could see emotions high at Anfield, and the Scotsman needs to ensure that they don’t prompt an angry reaction from the crowd.
If so, it could lead to a potential fine for Moyes and Everton as well, which is something that is completely avoidable.
Liverpool vs Everton set to be a feisty affair
The Merseyside derby is one of the direst games in the Premier League, with cards always expected.
In just the two Premier League fixtures from last season, 12 yellow cards were handed out and two reds.
Therefore, Everton duo Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Tim Iroegbunham will have to be careful if they play, with the Toffees stars only two yellow cards away from suspension.
It will be up to Moyes to ensure this does not get out of control, as a red card will inevitably tip the balance of the match.
