The Friedkin Group expected to have secret Farhad Moshiri agreement in place over Burnley case

Everton are set to battle it out this week with Burnley over a £50m compensation claim submitted by the Clarets.

The newly-promoted outfit are seeking financial compensation following Everton’s PSR breach for the 2021/22 campaign.

Burnley were relegated that season, and they believe Everton’s PSR breach allowed them to buy players which increased their chances of survival.

The Friedkins have transformed Everton’s finances in the time they have spent on Merseyside since taking over in December.

However, Farhad Moshiri’s time at Everton ended with financial constraints in the transfer windows.

Alan Myers wrote in his Everton News column this week that Moshiri was delighted to attend Everton’s game at the weekend at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

One football finance expert is now suggesting an agreement will already have been put in place between Moshiri and The Friedkin Group for this Burnley hearing.

Finance expert Stefan Borson has suggested Burnley could win up to £10m from Everton in their compensation case.

It is a far cry from the £50m they have set out for, but it is still a significant sum, nevertheless.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Borson has also suggested that an agreement will have likely been put in place during the Everton takeover to compensate for this hearing.

“I would think they [TFG] would have got effectively an indemnity from Moshiri as part of the money that they handed over,” he said.

“Either some of that is in escrow, a bank account waiting for the determination of this case, or they factored it in in full when they bought the business.”

Everton are now generating largely increased revenue following the opening of the new stadium, and the avenues that have opened up for the club.

But it will be a real positive to hear that this hearing has likely already been considered when the keys to the club were being handed over to the Friedkins.

On the pitch, there is a lot to get excited about at Everton, with Jack Grealish awarded Player of the Month for the Premier League in August.

The Toffees have taken seven points from their opening four games, and there will be a feeling that it could have been more.

Everton finally look like a club headed in the right direction under the new owners and Moyes.

A large part of that will come from the stability which the Friedkins have brought behind the scenes.

Big changes were made over the summer both on and off the pitch. However, the Friedkins have solidified Everton’s finances, and the new stadium will only boost the revenue they generate.

Exciting times could be ahead for the Blues despite this compensation case lingering in the background.
