Angus Kinnear shares who’s actually first in and last out at Everton training, it’s not Jack Grealish

Everton CEO Angus Kinnear has now spoken out following the conclusion of the summer transfer market.

Big changes were made at Everton over the course of the summer both on and off the pitch.

David Moyes was backed thoroughly by the Friedkins, with some big-name additions made during the transfer window.

Everton’s business went right down to the wire after landing Merlin Rohl in the final minutes before the deadline on 1 September.

The 48-year-old has certainly been busy over recent months, but he has taken the opportunity to praise someone else who’s worked incredibly hard behind the scenes.

It has been a testing summer for the 62-year-old, who did not shy away from sharing his concerns throughout the transfer window.

Speaking to the Everton website on the back of the summer, Kinnear has waxed lyrical about Moyes’ work ethic back at Finch Farm.

‘His desire to champion young talent remains as strong as ever. David was central to all our recruitment efforts,’ said Kinnear.

‘The first into Finch Farm each morning and the last to leave at night, he meticulously assessed every player proposal, data assessment and video review.

‘His passion and commitment for Everton, which began in 2002 with that famous victory over Fulham, is matched only by his vast experience and impressive credentials as a Premier League manager. We are privileged to have a manager who has such a deep love for the Club and for Evertonians.’

Just days on, it seems as if Kinnear has been keen to reiterate just how hard the 62-year-old manager actually works behind the scenes.

With two wins from their opening three Premier League games, Grealish has been named Player of the Month for August.

The signing of the 30-year-old marked a real step in the right direction for the Toffees, with some real star quality added to the squad.

Signing a player of Grealish’s calibre marks a real coup for the Toffees and Kinnear certainly played his role in the signing.

‘Finally, our objective was to complement our strong core with a combination of proven Premier League productivity and exciting young talent with very high potential,’ Kinnear added.
