There are already a few names circulating for a place at the 2026 World Cup, with Jordan Pickford no doubt going, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall also might be in the thinking, along with Grealish.
But the Everton boss, in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Aston Villa clash, has claimed James Garner should be in the reckoning.
“I got asked about the England team. I think if I were on the England staff, I’d be keeping a close eye on Jimmy Garner,” Moyes said.
“Garner is playing exceptionally well.”
Garner is one of the most overperforming English players at the moment, and surely the German has looked into the chance for the 24-year-old.
It would be some achievement for the midfielder as Everton fans didn’t see Garner as a ‘key player’, but he’s arguably been one of the most consistent names in the squad this season.

It’s unlikely that the former Man United man would be called up in a central midfield role, with the likes of Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham nailing down the position.
So there could be an opportunity for the Toffees star to come to England as a left-back, with Garner being ‘fabulous’ from defence.
The competition isn’t as heavy with an injury-prone Luke Shaw and an inexperienced Myles Lewis-Skelly in front of him, so it’s certainly a possibility after he thrived against Brighton from the left.
