With Djordje Petrovic on the verge of joining Bournemouth from Chelsea, Travers has been deemed surplus to requirements, meaning Everton can pick the Irishman up for around £4million.

With the departures of Asmir Begovic and Joao Virginia, following the expiration of their contracts, Everton require an understudy for Jordan Pickford.

Speaking live on Sky Sports (14 July), Tom White described the move as a “bargain” for Everton, with his medical set for Monday afternoon.

Travers has typically played a back-up role at Bournemouth when they have been in the Premier League, but has thrived for the Cherries in the Championship and on loan at Middlesbrough and Stoke.
