The New York Rangers have appointed franchise legend Brian Leetch as the team’s new President of Hockey Operations. Leetch, a Hall of Fame defenseman, is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in Rangers history. His appointment marks a significant moment in the franchise’s leadership, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep connection to the team.

Leetch’s illustrious career with the Rangers began in 1987 when he was drafted ninth overall. Over 18 seasons, he became the franchise’s all-time leader in assists (741) and points by a defenseman (981). He won two Norris Trophies as the NHL’s best defenseman, the Calder Trophy as Rookie of the Year, and the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP during the Rangers’ 1994 Stanley Cup run. His number 2 jersey was retired by the team in 2008, and he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2009 .

Despite being traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2004, Leetch’s bond with the Rangers remained strong. He has consistently praised the organization’s support, especially in charitable endeavors, highlighting the team’s unwavering loyalty to its players .
