Brennaman, who served as the Reds’ radio play-by-play announcer from 1974 to 2019, is celebrated for his distinctive voice and memorable calls, including his signature sign-off, “And this one belongs to the Reds!” His partnership with Joe Nuxhall formed one of the longest-running duos in baseball broadcasting history.
The sculpture, created by local artist Tom Tsuchiya, will depict Brennaman behind a microphone, capturing the essence of his 46-year career. It will be positioned near the Reds front office, facing Joe Nuxhall Way, to welcome fans as they approach the stadium.
Phil Castellini, Reds President and CEO, expressed that the sculpture represents Brennaman’s incredible legacy and his deep connection to Reds Country. He emphasized that the statue will serve as a lasting reminder of Brennaman’s passion and love for the team and the city.
The Reds Hall of Fame is leading fundraising efforts to support the sculpture, with Encore Technologies serving as the lead sponsor. John Burns, Founder and CEO of Encore Technologies, highlighted that Marty Brennaman’s name is synonymous with Reds baseball, and the bronze sculpture will remind fans of his contributions to the game and the community.
Marty Brennaman’s induction into the Reds Hall of Fame in 2021 marked a significant milestone in his career. The Hall of Fame board amended its bylaws to induct him as the sole member of that year’s class, recognizing his unparalleled impact on the franchise.
