Spurrier is responsible for one of Florida’s three national championships, winning in 1996.
Spurrier was a model of consistency at Florida. From 1990-2001, he took the Gators to 11 bowl games and finished with an overall record of 122-27.
He also coached 1996 Heisman winner and quarterback Danny Wuerffel with the Gators. That season, Wuerffel had 3,629 passing yards, 39 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.
