Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Joe Montana is one of the most famous NFL players in history.
When it comes to knowing what it takes to win a Vince Lombardi trophy, Montana knows all about it.
On Sunday, the 49ers will be taking on the Kansas City Chiefs (another one of Montana’s former teams) in Super Bowl LVIII.
Leading up to the big matchup, Montana recently had the following to say to the players inside San Francisco’s locker room (via Yahoo Sports on Twitter).
“You just have to do what you’ve been doing all year. Try not to get caught up in the event. And as everybody tries to tell you, once you get out there, you’ll see it’s just another game.”

On the 49ers’ sideline on Sunday, there will be a few players left from their Super Bowl loss to the Chiefs back in the 2019 season.
Guys like wide receiver Deebo Samuel, tight end George Kittle, linebacker Fred Warner, and defensive end Nick Bosa will all be appearing in their second Super Bowl as a member of San Francisco’s roster.
So this message from Montana seems more geared towards some of the 49ers’ players who haven’t taken part in a Super Bowl yet in their NFL careers, including quarterback Brock Purdy, left tackle Trent Williams, and running back Christian McCaffrey.
San Francisco has played in a number of big games during the last few seasons, but the Super Bowl is definitely a whole different animal, especially since there could be even more attention on this season’s contest due to the presence of pop music superstar Taylor Swift in the stands.
