‘Calvert-Lewin exit all-but confirmed’ as £40m transfer update emerges at Everton
Dominic Calvert-Lewin looks set to get the green light to complete a departure from Everton ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Englishman has been heavily linked with a move away from Goodison this season as his contract ticks down towards its expiry date.
Despite contributing to just four goals in the Premier League this campaign, David Moyes may have still looked to keep the striker in L4.
That now looks to be off the cards on Merseyside as a £40m transfer appears to be on the cards with the Toffees.
Calvert-Lewin could now leave Everton
The 28-year-old has been a fan favourite at Goodison for many years, but his lack of goals has been at the centre of frustration at times.
Calvert-Lewin has not scored over 10 goals in a season since 2021, and as a result, his departure could make sense for all parties.
It now appears that the Evertonians will be willing to let the number nine depart as new options are considered for the forward line ahead of the summer.
This is a priority for the Toffees in the upcoming window, with Ipswich Town star Liam Delap being looked at closely as a potential option [TEAMtalk, 7 April].
Moyes’ side have entered the race to sign the 22-year-old who has netted 12 goals in his first full season as a Premier League regular.
If Kieran McKenna’s side are to be relegated from the Premier League, a £40m release clause will be activated, which Everton could look to take advantage of.
As the Tractor Boys look destined for the Championship, a move for the England under-21 international could be completed at Goodison, spelling the end of the road for Calvert-Lewin.
Delap could transform Everton next season
There is no doubt that the former Manchester City youngster has been electric this season and would prove to be a coup for the Toffees.
Delap has pace, power and an eye for goal, which has made him one of the better strikers in the entire division for the side placed third bottom.
