Welcome to our Liverpool live blog for Friday, September 22.

Liverpool recorded a 3-1 win over LASK last night after an early scare in the first half. Goals from Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah ensured that the Reds began their Europa League campaign with a victory.

Jurgen Klopp made 11 changes from the team that defeated Wolves and there were plenty of talking points as both Ryan Gravenberch and Ben Doak made their first starts for the club, while fit-again Stefan Bajcetic returned to the team in an unfamiliar role. We’ll bring you all the analysis from the game in Linz.

In terms of the transfer rumour mill, Moises Caicedo’s agent has spoken about the Reds’ recent interest in the midfielder, while Liverpool are also said to be part of a growing battle for Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram.

Jurgen Klopp latest: Reds boss turned down Germany approach
Germany saw an approach for Jurgen Klopp turned down by the Liverpool manager, according to the Telegraph.

The 56-year-old was reportedly approached to succeed Hansi Flick as manager, who was sacked last week after a disappointing 4-1 loss to Germany proved to be the final chapter of a disastrous reign at the helm of the 2014 World champions.

The Telegraph claims that Klopp was the German Football Association’s first choice to succeed Flick. However, the German, who is contracted at Anfield until 2026, is insisted on remaining at Liverpool.

Speaking earlier this month, Klopp said: “My heart is here in Liverpool. You can’t just cut out the eight years. I signed a contract here and, as far as I can remember, I wasn’t drugged or tied up and had to sign with my mouth. That was a free decision. And that’s why it doesn’t fit.”

EX-Red signs for Non-League side
Former Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom has signed for sixth-tier side Warrington Town, after ending his two-year absence from the game.

Wisdom, a product of Liverpool’s academy, has not featured competitively for any side since his release from Derby County in May 2021.

The versatile defender made a total of 22 appearances for the Reds.
