Andre Gomes shines, £30m star struggles: Everton player ratings vs Spurs
Despite enjoying positive spells throughout the game, Everton ultimately fell to defeat, thus ending their four-game win streak in the Premier League.
Racing into a two-goal lead after just 18 minutes, the Toffees were far too lackadaisical to start, and were at serious threat of the game turning into a cricket score.
However, following an enforced change, some semblance of control was regained for a short while.
And yet, as has been the story of Sean Dyche‘s season, nothing seemed to go in the net until late on. A fine effort halved the deficit, but it proved to be not enough despite forging opportunity after opportunity.

Here are our player ratings for Everton’s loss to Tottenham Hotspur…
Jordan Pickford – 4/10
Perhaps at fault for the second goal after spilling the initial strike into the danger zone, Pickford looked somewhat shaky when faced with fierce shots. The £30m man could do nothing about Richarlison’s finish for the opener, but pulled off a stunner to deny Dejan Kulusevski.
Nathan Patterson – 5/10
As athletic as ever down the right flank, but his delivery was lacking at times. Was bullied by Kulusevski for the aforementioned chance.

James Tarkowski – 7/10
A proper leader’s performance who took his opportunity to nail Richarlison with delight. Remained solid, if unspectacular.
Jarrad Branthwaite – 6/10
Never looks overawed or out of place, and exhibited some fine long passing too. A quiet but compact showing for the 21-year-old superstar.
Vitaliy Mykolenko – 6/10

Helped put Everton back into shape with his mere presence, but saw most of the action come down his opposite flank.
James Garner – 5/10
Was anonymous at times, but was neat and tidy during Everton’s fine spell at the end of the first half. Could have scored with a few half chances.
Idrissa Gana Gueye – 4/10 (Substituted in 22nd minute)
Struggled to make an impact, took his yellow card, and was forced off with an injury.
Amadou Onana – 5/10 (Came off in 78th minute)
Struggled in the first half but grew into the game, drawing plenty of fouls. A quiet showing from someone who was hoping to avenge his midweek penalty failure.
Jack Harrison – 5/10 (Came off in 65th minute)

Saw one fierce effort saved but was otherwise quiet. His delivery let him down on more than one occasion.
Dwight McNeil – 6/10
A relentless presence down both flanks, who enjoyed a mazy run late in the first-half, but ultimately failed to provide any immense quality to unlock Spurs.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 5/10
Missed a fine first-half chance, but slotted coolly only to see his clinical second-half finish disallowed. Worked tirelessly throughout.
Substitutions
Andre Gomes – 7/10 (Came on in 22nd minute)
Showed flashes of his old self with immense quality in possession, but was harshly penalised for Everton’s disallowed goal. Leathered in a fine effort to half the deficit, and stood out.
Arnaut Danjuma – 5/10 (Came on in 65th minute)
Enjoyed moments of great quality but failed to make his mark against his old side despite receiving a few chances to do so. Could, maybe should, have found an equaliser late on.
Beto – 4/10 (Came on in 78th minute)
